Converting from 4-20mA to 1-5V is a common method to read and convert the 4-20mA output signal.
Typically the 4-20mAoutput signal is used for its excellent long cable run capabilities and interference immunity. However when it is time to actually read the signal and quantify it converting the 4-20mA to 1-5V is commonly done.
Convert with a Resistor Method
Use a 250R resistor in series with the Negative output wire of the 4-20mA output and 0V as shown below. The Resistor will induce a voltage drop across it that is proportional to the 4-20mA signal.
Where to place the resistor?

Image to the left demonstrates where the Resistor goes to convert 4-20mA to 1-5V
